Why we are backing Train the Trainer

Nigeria continues to face a learning outcomes crisis, with many teachers lacking access to continuous professional development and the practical skills needed to deliver inclusive, learner-centred education. This challenge is particularly pronounced in underserved schools, where limited training in Special Educational Needs (SEN) and inclusive teaching practices leaves many learners without the support they need to thrive. We are supporting TrainDTrainer because we believe improving education outcomes starts with equipping teachers to effectively support every learner. Through its digital professional development platform, the company is helping educators build competencies in inclusive pedagogy and SEN while making high-quality teacher training more accessible and scalable. Through the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship, we will work with the team to strengthen its execution, validate its approach across diverse learning environments, and position the platform to become a trusted partner for teacher development and inclusive education in Nigeria.
